It’s not a bad film – it’s just that it’s not very good. You know the score – family saga played out against the backdrop of a courtroom drama. Robert Downey Jnr and Robert Duvall do exactly what you expect from them – and it’s all very slick, impeccably filmed et al.
But it’s a cloying studio film that’s following a well-trodden path with little character and wholly formulaic. Few will likely hate it, but few likely to rave.
