‘High-Rise’

High_Rise_2014_Film_PosterThe French Revolution comes to 1970s London as the residents of the lower floors of an exclusive apartment block rebel against the elitist upper levels.

The adaptation of J G Ballard’s dystopian novel falls sadly flat as the mix of surreal and super realist events fail to gel or emotionally impact. Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Deep Blue Sea) is out of his comfort zone as the young doctor seduced by the upper-floor lifestyle as revolution, orgies and murder abound whilst the kids at the ground floor birthday party eat cake.
