Occasionally amusing rom-com with a difference, Jexi is something of an artless indulgence as a commentary on our reliance to phones.
Socially awkward Phil (Adam Devine – Isn’t It Romantic, Pitch Perfect) is a lonely, wannabe San Francisco journalist whose only friend appears to be Jexi, the voice of the most advanced cellphone digital service. But (literally) bumping into Cate (Alexandra Shipp – tick, tick…BOOM, X-Men Dark Phoenix) changes his life, resulting in a deeply jealous Jexi (voice of Rose Byrne) looking to undermine Phil and the evolving relationship.
From the writers of The Hangover and Bad Moms, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, Jexi is a crass and bland comedy with the only saving grace the petulant and scorned Jexi herself.
