Her tragic fragility is laid bare is this deeply moving tribute to an extraordinary talent. Add a self destruct streak a mile wide, the desperate need for unconditional love and approval along with questionable roles played by her father and husband in her life and it’s not surprising that Amy Winehouse died young.
A powerful documentary from the award-winning Asif Kapadia, it nevertheless leaves a few too many questions unanswered and the constant use of home movie footage at the beginning, whilst inevitable, does grate.
