An evergreen delight as wannabe serious reporter Anne Hathaway lands herself the job of second assistant to the much feared Miranda Priestly, the demanding editor-in-chief of one of the world’s leading fashion magazines.
Thinly veiled expose of Anna Wintour of Vogue, it’s the classic story of the boss from hell – but gorgeously wrapped in haute couture and Paris Fashion Week. Meryl Streep is a vicious delight with poor Emily Blunt (her breakout role) as first assistant tottering behind in her wake.
It’s all somewhat predictable as daggers are drawn in the cut throat business – but it’s enormously entertaining predictability with Streep and Blunt (who gets the laughs) standouts.
