‘All the Vermeers in New York’

Odd, true ‘arthouse’ feature as Anna (Emmanuelle Chaulet), a French actress studying in New York, is approached by successful stock-broker, Mark (renowned artist Stephen Lack), whilst lost in a Vermeer portrait at the Metropolitan. A strange, fractured potential romance ensues.

It’s a slow reveal as numerous scenarios unfold and disappear (an artist asking for an advance from his gallery against potential sales; unethical investments by the father of Anna’s flatmate). At times playful in its exploration about art and money, ultimately director Jon Jost (They Had It Coming, The Bed You Sleep In) is just a little too esoteric for his own good.
