‘Spiderhead’

Filmed in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands off the Queensland coast, Spiderhead is set in the near future as convicts are given the opportunity to test drugs in a no-expense spared isolated facility.

Administered by Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth – Thor, 12 Strong), the luxurious prison tests serious drugs dealing with control of emotions rather than anything medical. Promoting a level of equality, Abnesti and his assistant, Verlaine (Mark Paguio – Lonesome, TV’s The Twelve) are the only visible figures of authority as Jeff (Miles Teller – Whiplash, Rabbit Hole) starts to question the ethics behind the tests.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, TRON: Legacy) Spiderhead is an oddity sitting somewhere between a moral commentary and an adventure yarn. An awkward Hemsworth appears to be exploring the more serious side of his chosen career away from Thor and The Avengers, whilst Teller delivers what is expected – nothing more, nothing less.
