‘Succession’ (Season 4)

And so to the final season of the machinations of the bittersweet power struggle by the Roy siblings to convince their father, Logan Roy, to name one of them his successor as head of the multibillion dollar family business.

Succession remains one of the most powerful streaming series currently on offer as the three Roy Waystar executives reassemble to lick their wounds following their father’s (Brian Cox) unexpected about-face at the end of season three in order to safeguard control of the company. The three are now on their own – in direct competition with the family business. But events conspire to alter the balance of power that have enormous consequences for all concerned. Siblings, spouses, family members, colleagues are pitted against each other – with Norwegian entrepreneur Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgård) from season three feeding the fire.

With eldest brother Connor (Alan Ruck) trailing badly in his presidential nomination campaign but in its midst determining to be married to Willa (Justine Lupe), so a more claustrophobic season four homes in on the other three fight-for-power siblings. More initmate and personal (extensive use of close-up camera work and interior shots), Shiv (Sarah Snook) struggles with the betrayal by Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) whilst Kendall (Jeremy Strong) continues to believe he is the obvious successor in spite of his allegiance with Roman (Kieran Culkin).

Expect meltdowns, rage, despair and betrayals as emotions run high in the papably tense finale – just because you think you can does not mean you should!
