‘Monster’

Based on true events with an Oscar-winning performance from Charlize Theron, Monster is the story of Aileen Wuornos, a Daytona Beach prostitute and later serial killer.

Marginalised and abused, constantly broke, Wuornos (Theron – Tully, Atomic Blonde) meets lonely teenager, Selby (Christina Ricci – Bel Ami, TV’s Yellowjackets). As their love affair develops, ever on the move from seedy motel to seedy motel, a delusional Wuornos promises the earth to her young, manipulative lover – even if it means killing clients.

A sordid and grungy telling from director Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, TV’s The Killing) that’s unapologetically challenging, Monster centres around a transformative Theron and her deeply felt depiction of a sad, lost soul.

Won the 2004 Oscar for best actress.
