‘No Hard Feelings’

A very ordinary rom-com as Maddie enters into an agreement with the parents of a socially awkward 19 year-old in order to save her home.

Behind in taxes, Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence) sees her car reposessed and a court order against her Montauk home. A local reliant on tourist money working in bars and driving for Uber, Maddie’s in serious schtick. But an advert by a wealthy couple (Matthew Broderick, Laura Benanti) looking for a girlfriend over the summer to bring the awkward Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) out of his shell before he leaves for Princeton sounds like easy money.

Lawrence certainly tries hard with the dire material dished up by writer/director Gene Stupnitsky but it leaves you wondering why she agreed to have her name attached to it in the first place. A rom com without romance or comedy.
