Family fun as Ryan Reynolds (Free Guy, Deadpool) travels back from 30 years in the future to prevent the monopoly on time travel – and finds himself in the company of his 12 year-old geeky self.
Bullied and beaten at school, young Adam (Walter Scobell) is more than a handful for his mother, Jennifer Garner (Peppermint, Juno) as they grieve for the recent death of scientist husband/father, Louis (Mark Ruffalo – The Hulk, Dark Waters). Naturally, it’s Louis who invents time travel – and it’s his boss Maya (Catherine Keener – Capote, Into the Wild) who, it turns out, has already travelled back from the future to invest in the invention.
Throw in the search for Adam’s wife (Zoe Saldana – Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy) and we’re left with non-stop tongue-in-cheek action, a lot of wit and a fun if forgettable family ride: in short exactly what you would expect from director Shawn Levy, responsible for the likes of A Night at the Museum and Free Guy.
